Frequently Asked Questions

What should I expect during physical therapy sessions?

Sessions usually include an assessment of your condition, manual therapy to improve mobility and flexibility, personalized exercises, and education to help prevent future injury.

Do I need a referral from my doctor before attending Physical Therapy?

No. Pennsylvania is a “direct access” state, so you don’t need a prescription to start. We coordinate with your other healthcare providers as needed.

What do I need to wear or bring with me?

Wear loose, comfortable clothing that allows you to move easily and doesn’t limit circulation. Depending on your condition, your therapist may recommend supportive footwear or a brace. Bring any relevant medical documents such as X-rays, ultrasounds, or doctor’s notes.

What can I do to prepare for my appointment?

Arrive well-rested for your session so you can give it your full attention and energy. Also, keep track of any pain medications you take so your therapist can adjust your care accordingly.

How long will my physical therapy sessions last?

Sessions typically run 30–60 minutes, depending on your needs and the techniques used. Your PT will give an estimate at your first appointment.

Are there exercises I can do at home between appointments?

Yes! Your therapist will provide tailored exercises for you to try between visits. Follow their instructions carefully and check with them if you have any questions or concerns.

What if I have questions after my physical therapy session?

Our therapists are always available to answer your questions before and after treatment. You can also call our clinic anytime.

Will insurance cover my physical therapy?

Most plans cover some (or all) costs for physical therapy services, but check with your provider to confirm coverage and learn about any related fees.

How often will I need to attend sessions?

Most patients attend 2–3 times per week for 4–6 weeks, depending on their goals and condition. Your therapist will provide more details at your first appointment.

How long will it take for me to see results?

Results vary, because every patient’s health conditions are unique. That said, many notice improvements within a few weeks. Making positive lifestyle changes can help speed up your progress.

Will my physical therapist answer questions about my condition?

Absolutely. Our therapists provide guidance and support throughout your recovery. Don’t hesitate to raise any questions you have over the course of treatment.

What if I feel too much pain during a session?

Tell your therapist right away about any severe pain. They’ll adjust their techniques or intensity to keep you comfortable as possible and ensure effective treatment.

How will I know when I no longer need physical therapy?

Your therapist will help guide you toward a point when it’s safe to transition out of treatment based on your progress and goals. Follow your therapist’s advice and continue treatment until they feel you’re ready to move on.
